Wise Bears

Our Pre-School children (age 3+) have such a range of opportunities on offer it's hard to know where to start - happily they know where, and take advantage of it all! We gently prepare children for 'big school' allowing them to move on confidently to Reception classes at Berkhampstead School or elsewhere. Learning is fun and opportunities varied in the Wise Bears' Room.

the best start

Our decades of experience in education mean that your child will get the very best start both socially and academically. Topics are real and relevant and activities tailored to your child’s interests. We visit the Prep School regularly - weekly for their Early Years assembly, and for French sessions with their language specialist too. Their staff also visit us to give that little bit extra that qualified and experienced teachers can offer. Children love Berky Bears Music with Pre-Prep head of music, Mrs Sallis, and playtime with Berkhampstead staff is great too!

Play remains central and they’ll learn masses - they’ll sing and share, socialise and paint, enjoy books, role-play and develop their motor skills.

The quality and experience of our staff makes a real difference. Encouraging and enthusiastic Key Workers allow children to blossom - your child will be in caring and experienced hands from day one.

Wise Bears visit the School for French sessions.

Growing

Your child’s world will get bigger and more interesting as they clamber and climb, have fun and build their strength in the grounds and in Berkhampstead School’s gym. Agility, balance and co-ordination comes on in leaps and bounds in our purpose-built, bright and safe space.

We use the large school library and the school stage is available - it’s a great space for drama - they are super facilities! Accessed by a stroll across the garden, it’s an adventure to get there when you are small too!

Loving Learning

Experimenting and questioning are a key part of learning here and your child will voice ideas, help to plan activities, make choices and give feedback. Our close links with Berkhampstead School mean that there’ll be a chance to enjoy concerts, sports days and other shared activities.

You’ll know how your child feels about Berkhampstead Day Nursery by the smiles and willingness to rush in each day and we’ll document their progress in an individual learning journal, via the ‘Famly’ app.

Early Years Assembly with the School’s Head of Early Years

Children’s next steps in learning are carefully planned and opportunities for spontaneous learning identified. These promote children’s natural curiosity and sense of awe and wonder.
