why we're special
Our staff make us special. Genuinely interested in children and their development, our staff are bright and create a caring family atmosphere which children settle into very quickly. It's hard to pin down just what it is that makes this such a wonderful place for your child to be - but as soon as you arrive you'll feel it.
Our son is so happy going to Nursery and has really developed in the caring environment you have created.— Current parent
Children’s artwork covers the walls, there is the sound of laughter and the bustle of a happy place with children engaged in a range of activities.
More than this is the feeling of warmth and contentedness that is all around. We have happy children and contented parents because we give the very best start.
Our parents are delighted with the care that their children receive at Berkhampstead Day Nursery.
Ralph absolutely LOVES coming here, his speech has hugely improved and he has learnt a lot. It is lovely to see the girls playing with the children, as they clearly have a genuine pleasure and enthusiasm working with them.— Former parent
Out and About
Berkhampstead School’s facilities are super and we use the gym, playground and library regularly. Visiting for play-dates is a real highlight and all enjoy seeing old friends and making new ones.
Our super community link with Oakhaven Residential Care Home enables young and old to come together and take pleasure in one another’s company. Key times of the year such as Harvest and Christmas give us reasons to visit but we also share stories, books, songs and smiles on a regular basis.
The nearby Pittville Park is a popular destination for walks and playing - we get out often.
Trips further afield have included seeing the animals at Over Fram, hunting for wild creatures on The Gruffalo Trail in the Forest of Dean and splashing about at the Wetland Centre.
When the fire fighters and their engine visit, excitement abounds - just look at this smile!
Art and craft, nature walks, role-play, cookery, modelling, construction and active exploratory fun are part of the normal programme of events. Our children share and get involved in planning the day.
The outdoors plays a big part for all ages and we venture out whatever the weather…come prepared!
There’s lots to do - all year round as the smiling active faces testify.
Our activities programme varies throughout the year - please ask for details. Music is SO enjoyable though, that our fabulous Berky Bear Music sessions run on Fridays during term time, all year-round.
Free to all Day Nursery children and run by Debbie Sallis, a qualified and inspirational music teacher, Berky Bears is active and great fun. Take a Peek!
