“I speak Spanish!”
Recently the Prep children ‘travelled’ to Spain and further afield to sample the language and culture.
Everyone learned how to greet one another in Spanish.
The children of Years 3 and 4 heard a little about Madrid and its emblem ‘The Bear and the Madroño Tree’…. Followed by a tasting of olives, which were not to everyone’s taste! It was fine weather outside, so the children had a go at a few basic Flamenco steps. There were lots of fast heels and stamps from the girls and some fine ‘air-guitar’ from the guys!
The guys and girls from Years 5 and 6 ‘travelled’ further to the country of Argentina. They heard a little about Buenos Aires, and Argentina’s most famous street – 9th July Avenue. Also, we talked a little bit about the town of La Boca and the brightly-coloured houses and its famous football stadium. Afterwards we danced some basic steps of Argentine Tango outside…….’Strictly..’ comes to Berky!

“¡Hablo español!”
La semana pasada, los niños de Prep ‘viajaron’ a España y aún más lejos para probar el idioma y la cultura.
Todos aprendieron en español come se saluda el uno al otro.
Los niños de los años 3 y 4 escucharon un poco sobre Madrid y su símbolo “El oso y el madroño”…. seguido por una prueba de unas olivas – ¡y no fueron del gusto de todo el mundo! Hice buen tiempo afuera, pues los niños intentaron bailar unos pasos basicos del Flamenco. ¡Hubo muchos tacones y golpes rápidos de las chicas y muy buen ‘guitarra de aire’ de los chicos!
Los chicos y las chicas de los años 5 y 6 ‘viajaron’ más lejos al país de Argentina. Escucharon un poco sobre Buenos Aires, y su calle la más famosa en Argentina – La avenida de 9 julio. Además hablamos sobre el pueblo de La Boca y las casas de colores fuertes y su estado de fútbol famoso. Después, nos bailamos afuera unos pasos basicos de tango Argentino ….¡ ‘Strictly…’ viene a Berky!
