CSI Berky!

      CSI Berky!

Year 6 enjoyed a morning of science with a difference this week. Former Detective Jenny Williams came into school to run a series of investigations demonstrating how science is used to capture criminals. Fuelled with plenty of fascinating real life stories, Jenny taught the children all about fingerprints, and how they are used as vital evidence in a police investigation. The children had a go at lifting their own fingerprint evidence with the use of aluminium powder on brushes. Chromatography was also explored in a hands-on way as they worked out which black pen could have been used to write a note. The last crime to crack involved the children’s nearly found knowledge of DNA as they investigated a crime scene, studying clues and evidence to solve the violent crime. A fantastic morning!
