Annual Prep Swimming Gala 2017

      Annual Prep Swimming Gala 2017

There was an excited buzz as the children settled down at the poolside for the 2017 swimming gala. The noise got louder with loud cheers as the all the children from Years 3 - 6 swam a length of front crawl, then backstroke, and finally a breaststroke length for their houses. Some of the Year 6 pupils then blasted down the pool with a length of butterfly. The gala drew to an end with the house relays. Everyone gave it their best shot, and the children were supportive of one another, but especially of those who find swimming challenging. With the fantastic club swimmers we have had over the last few years, records were going to be hard to break, but there was one particularly impressive result when the Year 5/6 boys equalled the existing relay record in the very last race. The final results were the closest they have been for years with only 19 points separating the first three houses. Well done to all the swimmers for their huge endeavour and especially to St Andrews for winning the trophy.
