School Nursery

For the best possible start at Berkhampstead, our School Nursery takes children from the term before they are 3 years of age and gives a very gentle introduction to school life. The emphasis is on play and learning through doing, life in the School Nursery is full of fun and creativity!
With superb facilities the nursery is well resourced and has easy access to a dedicated outdoor play area.
Mr Cross, the Headmaster visits regularly and his Storytime session is a highlight of the Nursery children's week!
The children have many opportunities to be outdoors, experiencing a variety of activities there from gardening to using the trikes, from sand play to kicking a ball or freely scampering around and having fun!
Our staffing ratios are generous and our teachers well qualified and experienced. We have a very talented body of staff. Every child receives plenty of attention and encouragement.
We provide a happy, secure and structured environment where these young children can enjoy learning through doing and get a superb preparation for going to school for the first time. Practical activities and planned play make every day fun and stimulating and there is plenty of variety for everyone.

Confidence, understanding, learning and social skills rapidly develop, as do early friendships and at 4+ the children move on to the Reception class of our Pre-Prep or to local primary schools.
The Sure Start Free Learning for 3 to 4 year olds grant is available and Berkhampstead School is also registered with most Childcare Voucher organisations.
Bursaries and Scholarships are available - please see the admissions page or contact the Bursar for details.
