There is so much that you and your child can do at home to reinforce what is going on at school and to have a good time whilst learning. Formal sessions aren't needed but general things built into the daily routine can help so much with understanding and progress.
Read everything! Of course, story-time is really important and popular with all children - the more of that the better. 
Other sources such as magazines, signs, packets and tins, recipes, menus - a whole range of things all of the time, will help with letter recognition and confidence.
Sing and share an enjoyment of music with your little ones at home, no matter what your ability your child loves your voice and chants and rhymes all aid the developmental process.

Why not come along to Berky Bear's Music Group at school on Friday mornings - run by our fabulous Mrs Sallis, a trained musician and teacher, it is fun and creative and stimulating for children aged 1-4, with a parent of course! 
Counting steps and stairs as you go up and down, counting cars as you walk along, singing counting rhymes, counting coins are all great ways to allow your little one to gain confidence.

A good website with games and challenges for children to improve memory and sorting skills can be found here. It also allows children to practise listening and reading for information.
